HATHA YOGA CLASS :
A relaxing end to the week!
Suitable for Beginners & Intermediate
Held at Dunvant Social Centre - Friday early evening 6.00pm

Energize is pleased to have on board Carolyn Jones our new Canadian Yoga teacher to teach Hatha Yoga for us on Fridays 5.30pm – 6.30pm at our Dunvant venue. Carolyn teaches Yoga in various centres around Swansea and is a Level 3 Yoga teacher, trained in Vancouver. She is also a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) UK
Structure of the Yoga class:
Carolyn will be teaching Hatha yoga, a classical style of yoga which mixes different poses with breathing exercises, stretches and relaxation. Classes are designed to improve strength, balance, posture and flexibility and to teach participants techniques that calm the mind, giving you tools to cope with tension and stress.
A typical class begins with a short head-to-toe warm-up, followed by a series of different positions and concludes with a few minutes of silent relaxation. Each class includes at least one breathing exercise. Students are invited to suggest particular positions and sequences they want to explore and Carolyn is happy to include them in subsequent classes.
Benefits of yoga:
Yoga is beneficial for many conditions and is recommended by doctors. For example, a participant who has persistent lower back pain arrived at class because her doctor had advised her to try yoga. Different yoga positions work to tone muscles, stimulate circulation, calm your mind and even aid in digestion. Yoga is often beneficial for people with arthritis, sciatica, back pain, high blood pressure and various aches and pains.
Carolyn’s advice: Don’t worry about just how supple you are or aren’t. Most yoga positions can be modified to suit virtually any level of flexibility or fitness. The idea is not to wrap your leg around your head in the first class; we want to help you get a good stretch and a gentle workout.
Health Warning:
Please note that yoga is not recommended for most people with heart conditions. Yoga is also not a substitute for medical examination, diagnosis or treatment. Students should also check with a doctor before beginning a yoga course.
